The infamous “Hospital Bag”
No. I did not spring for a pre-packed hospital bag like this one. Fancy though huh? They will sell anything to pregnant people! I did however have to do some searching for the items I wanted and get my bag packed this weekend. The baby books say to have this little chore done a month ahead of your due date, but this was the one thing (ok two, I still don’t have my daycare worked out yet either) that I procrastinated on. I figured that the majority of first time babies come late so why rush.
Whats in my bag?
Surprisingly it seems like a lot. I’m traditionally a light packer. My paranoia of losing bags in airports led to a strict 2 carry on bags packing regime. Overnight, a few days, or a few weeks. If it doesn’t fit in carry on, it’s not coming with me. So after I piled in my comfy Pj’s. a shirt for labor (side note, if you want to feel more comfy in the hospital I read in a few places to wear your own clothes), some bathroom items and then what sunk the ship. Baby stuff.
She’s not even here yet and I ended up packing more for her than me! Will it be cold? Will it be warm? Will she be too big for the newborn stuff? My own diapers and wipes because no one is using those chemical infested name brand things on her. Maybe she won’t like the booted pj’s! OMG could packing for a newborn be more complicated!!!
I might need a bigger diaper bag….

You know I had the toughest time going back to working after my 1st baby and finding excellent daycare was probably the single biggest reason.
