I Can’t Be (or blog) Everywhere at Once

Filed in Mommy says...

I know, the Kahlan updates have gotten sparse. I’m knee deep in baby and projects so here is a fresh batch of photos to tide you over. A more verbose post to come:

OH MY GOSH! I’d never get any shopping done if I had that sweet little face staring up at me from my grocery cart! She is the cutest kid EVER! ~ Amers

Just thought I’d tell you I found your blog while I was looking up “kahlan” and baby names. We’re about to have a baby girl next month and we’re naming her Kahlan too.

    I’ve really enjoyed your blog!

  3. Really? Wow thats great! Congrats on the little girl by the way! It’s a bit uncommon but we love the books (the tv show based on them was horrid) by Terry Goodkind so chose our favorite heroine as a namesake. How did you choose the name?

Same reason. My husband is a big fan – he started reading them after seeing the TV show and hearing how the books were much better. He wasn’t liking the name we had picked out (Ella) any more. So for his birthday last month, I “gave” him his favorite name. Of course, everyone is saying “Oh she’ll be called Collin the rest of her life” but it’s not like everyone could say or spell my name right and it’s as common as anything else.

I think it’s fitting. My dad picked my name from a book (and she was no where near as cool as Kahlan) so I thought it was neat to basically make a tradition out of it.

  5. Ha that’s almost spooky since my name is Kirstan and so close to yours to then also both name our daughters after the same book, it truly is a small world!

For the record I haven’t heard it pronounced “Collin” yet, more of a soft ah instead if the corect kay sound. But when spoken many people hear it as Caitlin so I just say “kinda but without the “T”…”

I can’t wait for her to be old enough to read the series and see what she thinks of the character. Hopefully she admires her brave and courageous spirit like I do!

Even more so of a small world because I write for a living and my husband does graphic design/illustrations :)

Some people have been telling me the way they read Kahlan is Collin, no matter how many times I tell them otherwise (think Kohls, but with an “a”). But whatever. I think there are just as many people out there who are familiar with the books. I love the name.

Yay for us and our Kahlans.
